Elizabeth Taylor’s First Wedding Dress Up For Auction

The dress Elizabeth Taylor wore down the aisle for her first of eight weddings is being put up for auction, and it could be yours…for $47,000.

According to CBS News, Christie’s auction house is putting the “seed pearl-encrusted satin dress” up on the auction block, which also comes with the built-in corset to cinch in the waist.

The dress, made specially by costume-designer Helen Rose, was worn by Taylor when she was only 18 in her first marriage to hotel heir Conrad “Nicky” Hilton Jr. in May 1950. The affair was described by MGM as having “more stars than there are in heaven” in attendance.

But as many fans know, Taylor divorced her first husband just months later and went on to marry seven more times to Michael Wilding, Mike Todd, Eddie Fisher, Ruchard Burton (twice) John Warner and Larry Fortensky.

The dress will go under the hammer in Christie’s “Pop Culture” auction event on June 26th and is expected to fetch between 30,000 – 50,000 pounds.
