Get The Recipe For Sweet Arleen’s K-EARTH 101 Peppermint & Cherry Affair Cupcake

We’re still on a sugar rush after Sweet Arleen’s cupcakes in Westlake Village stopped by The K-EARTH 101 Morning Show this week and created our very own custom cupcake inspired by classic songs and groups about food!

The result was inspired by the songs “Cherry Cherry” and “Incense and Peppermint” (minus the incense) plus the rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers to use as the main ingredients of the cupcake, and it is delicious!

But don’t take our word for it, try it yourself! Sweet Arleen’s was kind enough to pass along the recipe for the The K-EARTH 101 Peppermint and Cherry Affair cupcake for all our listeners to bake at home! See and save the recipe below:

The K-EARTH 101 Peppermint and Cherry Affair


• 4.5 ounces unsalted butter
• 1 cup granulated sugar
• 2 1/2 eggs whole
• 11/2 egg yolks
• 1 1/2 cup cake flour
• 3/4 cup all purpose flour
• 1/4 teaspoon Baking Soda
• 1 teaspoon Baking Powder
• 3/4 teaspoon salt
• 1 cup Buttermilk
• 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
• 3/4 cup cherry puree
• 1/2 cup minced Morello Cherries


Paddle the butter and sugar together. Slowly add in eggs and yolks one at a time. Scrape down sides. In a bowl measure cake flour, ap flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt together. Add in half the mixture to the batter. Slowly add in buttermilk, vanilla extract and cherry puree. Scrape down sides and add in remaining half of dry ingredients. Fold in minced cherries.

• 4 ounces butter
• 1/2 cup granulated sugar
• 1 cup minced Morello Cherries
• 4 whole Piquillo pepper canned minced
• 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt


Melt the butter and sugar in pan. Add in the rest of the ingredients and cook until soft.

• 1cup white chocolate
• 2 1/2 cups butter
• 2 1/2 powdered sugar
• 3 Tablespoons White mint extract


Paddle together butter and powdered sugar until all clumps are gone. Slowly add in white mint extract and scrape down sides. Melt chocolate in microwave and slowly pour into icing.

Cherry Simple Syrup
• 1 cup granulated sugar
• 1 cup cherry juice
• 1 cup water


Bring sugar and water to a boil for 2 minutes. Turn flame off and add in cherry juice. Turn flame back on and reduce for 2 minutes. Let cool.

Assembly of cupcake!

Core cupcake using an apple corer
Drizzle teaspoon of cherry simple syrup and spoon fill with pepper and cherry filling
Using a star tip pipe on white chocolate mint icing
