Elton John is back on ‘Tickets @ 2’ with a number one hit from 1975 “Philadelphia Freedon.”

Bernie Taupin wrote the lyrics to most of Elton’s songs, but Elton would occasionally suggest titles. Elton requested a song with the title “Philadelphia Freedom” in hnor of his friend, tennis player Billie Jean King. At the time, there was a professional tennis league in America called World Team Tennis, and in 1974 King coached a team called “Philadelphia Freedoms.”

Elton John and Billie Jean King became good friends after meeting at a party.

When we play it between two and three we’ll take caller #10 to win a 4-Pack of unlimited ride tickets to Pacific Park on the Santa Monica Pier, courtesy of the Auto Club. 1-800-232-KRTH (5784).
