Arsenio Hall On His Comeback To Late Night: “The Dog Pound Will Be There”

Making his anticipated comeback to the late night realm, entertainer Arsenio Hall returns after 20 years of being off the air with his new and improved Arsenio Hall Show, which debuts next Monday, Sept. 9th at 11 p.m. on KTLA 5!

Last year, Arsenio visited the K-EARTH 101 Morning Show where he told us about his pursuit to get back in the talk show game after his win on Celebrity Apprentice. Now his dream has been fulfilled with this revival and he couldn’t be more excited.

“I never thought I’d be coming back to my late night show,” he said. “As a matter of fact, I’m on my way to New York right now to do Letterman and I remember telling Letterman on the air I would never come back, and I know he’s going to ride me for it when I get there.”

Arsenio is coming out of the gate with an all-star lineup of celebrity guests for his debut week including Chris Tucker, Mark Harmon, Lisa Kudrow, Ice Cube, Earvin “Magic” Johnson, George Lopez and Angela Bassett. However, he was keeping his very first guest under wraps.

“First guest out will be Amanda Bynes,” joked Arsenio (although he definitely had us going for a sec there). “You know what, my publicist is sitting here…I probably shouldn’t say anything.”

The new Arsenio Hall Show will bring back some of the same great features as his previous show, but with an updated twist. One of those features includes his house band, who he affectionately calls The Posse 2.0.

His band are all hand-picked musicians he’s gotten to know over the years including music director Robin DiMaggio (also on drums), Alex Al (bass guitar), Rob “Fonksta” Bacon (lead guitar/vocals), Sean Holt (saxophone/keyboard/vocals) and Victoria Theodore (keyboards/vocals).

“I’m so proud and so happy to have Posse 2.0 rolling with me and riding with me every night,” he said.

Now the question we all want to know is…will the Dog Pound be making its return to the show as well?

“I’ll put it like this…the dog pound will be there, but in a different and unique form for 2013,” he teased.

The season premiere of the new Arsenio Hall Show is Monday, Sept. 9th at 11 p.m. on KTLA 5. If you’d like tickets to a taping of the show, visit

“I’m so excited. A lot of people don’t get the opportunity to do this once in life, and I’m being blessed with the opportunity to do it a second time,” he said. “If it doesn’t work and it’s cancelled the first night, I’ll say it was a special!”
