It’s the worst possible scenario that runs in the back of your mind when stepping foot on a roller coaster – you get stuck mid-ride in a terrifying position for hours.
This scenario became reality for 12 riders who became stuck on a ride in Universal Studios Orlando on Wednesday. The roller coaster Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit suddenly stopped in its tracks around 7 p.m. leaving the 12 riders stuck in a vertical position for more than two hours, reports WKMG news.
Thankfully this scary situation had a happy ending as firefighters were able to rescue the riders one by one to safety once crews were able to bring the coaster to a horizontal position.
“We’re happy that our guests are safely off Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit. We’ll find out what happened & will reopen the ride as soon as we can,” Universal addressed in a tweet that night.
According to WKMG, “Universal said a glitch caused the ride’s computers to go into safety mode, shutting down the ride. An investigation will be launched into the incident.”
So today, we’re asking K-EARTH 101 listeners if they’ve ever been stuck on an amusement park ride before. Listen to Gary Bryan and Lisa Stanley share their stories of being stuck on rides in the clip below.Comments
