Actor Noel Gugliemi On The 7th Annual Indie Fest At Garden Grove

This morning, Gary Bryan welcomed actor Noel Gugliemi on the phone to talk about a new film he’s starring in that will be featured in the 7th annual Indie Fest USA Int’l Film & Music Festival of Garden Grove from Oct. 24-27.

Noel has appeared in top-notch films including Fast and Furious, Training Day, Bruce Almighty and The Dark Knight Rises. He tells us he took on this indie project not only because it had an interesting premise, but also as a personal favor to help his friend who was producing it.

“I do any film that I believe in and has a good story,” said Noel, noting that he jumped at the chance to help his friend out.  “I like to help other people’s dreams and visions take off as well if I’m able to do that.”

The film is called Hope Cafe, which follows a desperate single mother who lost her way after escaping an abusive relationship, but ends up finding her way again through “her peace and love with God.”

Noel tells us his acting career began as a “right place at the right time” kind of moment after being cast in his first feature film The Animal with Rob Schneider. However, it wasn’t until his breakout role in Training Day did his career really start to take off.

Training Day was kind of the lift off of the career…that’s what kind of put me on the map and ever since then it’s been a blessing,” he said.

Noel may have a long list of credits to his name, but Gary couldn’t resist asking him about one of his most iconic movie roles in Bruce Almighty where he plays a gang leader who feels the wrath of Bruce Almighty’s power. The scene he’s talking about of course is one that has traumatized Noel since where Bruce makes monkeys fly out of his butt

“I’ll put it to you this way, I don’t even go to the zoo no more,” Noel laughed. “I stay away from the bananas in the produce section.”

Despite one his more embarrassing roles, Noel has kept busy working on numerous upcoming projects including a film with Sylvester Stallone, Danny Trejo and Kristen Stewart.

Don’t miss Noel’s indie film Hope Cafe premiere at The 7th annual Indie Fest, which is an “exciting and entertaining eclectic mix of  outstanding independent films from the US and International filmmakers and over 14 local and regional bands and solo artists in genres including rock, alt. rock, jazz, folk, cover and indie.”
