Teens In Ringo Starr’s 1964 Photo Reunite To Recreate The Original Image

Earlier this month, Ringo Starr prompted a nationwide search to a nearly five-decade old mystery to identify six teens he photographed during The Beatles first visit to the U.S. Now, it seems the mystery has finally been solved and those teens even reunited nearly 50 years later for a new photo replicating the original.

The original picture Ringo snapped in 1964 when the Beatles landed at John F. Kennedy Airport showed six teens crammed in a car to get a glimpse of the band passing by in their limos. Ringo included the photo in his new book Photograph, which prompted a highly publicized search to find those teens, who appeared on the Today Show this week.

The six teens pictured in the photo are Gary Van Deursen, Suzanne Rayot, Arlene Norbe, Charlie Schwartz, Bob Toth and Matt Blender (who passed away in 2011). Deursen was driving his pals in a borrowed Chevy Impala after cutting class that day to see The Beatles arrive in New York.

“We went back up to the front (of the limousine line), waved to each one of them, and the last one was Ringo, he’s the one who went, ‘Roll down your window!'” Van Deursen told Today.

After USA Today launched a search to find the then-teens, Today reunited them to re-create that now-iconic photo 49 years later.

Upon learning that those fans reunited, Ringo released a statement to Today saying, “How great that they found these people! And how cool to now know a little of their story and what that moment was like from their perspective. Right now I’m off in Latin America on tour and I won’t be back until November when we play two shows at the Palms in Las Vegas. I look forward to meeting them when I get back. See you in Las Vegas! Peace & love, Ringo.”
