An Atlanta Lamborghini dealer named Ed Bolian spent years outfitting his 2004 Mercedes-Benz CL55 AMG with gadgetry, spare gas tanks and bed-pans to finally fulfill his dream of driving cross-country in a new record-breaking 28 hours and 50 minutes.
Bolian, along with two friends, packed into the suped-up Mercedes and drove it from Manhattan to Redondo Beach, Calif. with an average speed of 98 mph. According to MSN Now, they stopped for gas only three times and didn’t make a single bathroom pit-stop.
So how did Bolian and crew manage to rocket cross-country at unimaginable speeds without getting pulled over one? They were aided by gadgets including police scanners, CB radios, two GPS units, two iPhones running traffic (and speed trap-related) apps and two laser jammers, reports MSN.
Looks like this all paid off in the end because this new time shatters the previous driving record of 31 hours and 17 minutes held by Alex Roy. All hail the new kings of the road!
