This morning during ‘Remember The Time’ on The K-EARTH 101 Morning Show, we flashed back to the year 1992 when Johnny Carson bid a heartfelt goodbye on his final episode of The Tonight Show.

That got us thinking about the time when K-EARTH’s own Hollywood Walk Of Fame recipient Shotgun Tom Kelly made an appearance on The Tonight Show, but not in the way you’d expect it.

The story goes, Shotgun happened to be in the audience for a taping of the show when Carson asked band leader Doc Severinsen what the name of the song they played coming out from a commercial was.

Not knowing the name of the song, Severinsen prompted the audience “if anybody knows the name of that song, I wish they’d tell us.”

That’s when Shotgun Tom yelled out his signature “You better believe it, baby!” catchphrase from the stands, which caught the attention of Carson.

Watch the clip of Shotgun yelling out on the Tonight Show below!
