On January 1st, many Netfilx subscribers woke up to the unpleasant surprise that some favorite films or not-yet-watched picks suddenly disappeared from the instant stream. The streaming company recently purged some of its inventory at the end of the year including films like “Top Gun,” “Titanic,” “Being John Malkovich,” “Braveheart,” “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind,” “Flashdance,” “Platoon” and “War Games.”

This purging of old titles is nothing new to the popular streaming service. According to CNN, a spokesperson for Netflix explained that the company “routinely adds and deletes titles from its streaming service due to licensing contracts.”

Though with the loss, movie lovers also gained some exciting new additions to the service that will have you glued to the couch all weekend.

So what’s new on Netflix? Clear out your schedule for the weekend and add these classic films to your instant queue:

  • Grapes of Wrath (1940)
  • The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951)
  • West Side Story (1961)
