This year’s buzz-worthy Oscar-nominated documentary 20 Feet From Stardom may soon be getting its own TV spinoff and run on Broadway, if Mick Jagger has his way.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jagger, who appeared in the film, is currently in talks to turn the story following the lives of music’s most famed backup singers into an hour-long scripted TV series and Broadway musical.

THR notes that, like the film, the TV series would “follow the lives of backup singers who perform in the shadows of some of the biggest music stars in the business,” though would only focus on contemporary artists.

Jagger is also working to some of the singers featured in the documentary to appear in the Broadway musical adaptation, including Darlene Love and Lisa Fischer. Love has previously appeared on Broadway in Hairspray the musical.

The Stones frontman is set to executive produce the project with Victoria Pearman through their Jagged Films company, along with the film’s direct Morgan Neville.

The film itself became the highest-grossing documentary of the year and is nominated for best documentary at this year’s Academy Awards.
