It was announced Tuesday that renowned opera star Renée Fleming is tapped to sing the National Anthem as part of the pregame festivities leading up to the big game between the Denver Broncos and the Seattle Seahawks at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., on Feb 2.

Known as “the People’s diva,” Fleming will make her Super Bowl debut, joining the ranks of fellow big name artists like Whitney Houston, Beyonce, and Billy Joel who’ve had the honored to perform the “Star Spangled Banner” in front of millions.

Being a classically trained soprano opera singer, we have no doubt that Fleming will be able to hit those difficult high notes of the National Anthem. But our question this morning is, who do you think sang the best rendition of the National Anthem ever?

It’s difficult to pick out just one performance as the best ever, but below we’ve included some of the standouts from over the years.

Whitney Houston: Super Bowl 1991

Huey Lewis And The News: World Series 1985

Faith Hill: Super Bowl 1999

Carrie Underwood: Super Bowl 2009

Jimi Hendrix: Woodstock 1969

So who do you think sang the best version of the National Anthem ever? Vote below or write in your pick!
