Sting & Paul Simon Trying To ‘Raise Each Others’ Game’ For On Stage Together Tour

Two of music’s most illustrious voices are sharing the stage together for the first time ever on a joint tour kicking off Feb. 8th. Sting and Paul Simon are gearing up for their ‘On Stage Together’ North American tour, which makes a stop at LA’s newly renovated Forum on Feb. 15, and recently sat down for a video interview with Rolling Stone to share some secrets of how the concept of the tour came about.

Sting noted that the two musicians have built up a friendship over the years since they live in the same building. He adds that they often “share things” like coffee, sugar and “notes, tunes” according to Simon. The idea to embark on a tour together materialized after the two icons happened to be working on the same project, so they decided to do it together.

Though Sting and Simon both have very distinct music and vocal styles, they are excited to share the same stage and blend those unique sounds.

“It’s not so much the spirit of competition, it’s just raising each others’ game to be together,” Sting explained to Rolling Stone. “I feel like I have to raise my game to be on stage with [Simon].”

Simon adds that the two “come from different places, culturally,” but they are already finding that when their styles and voices are combined that they get a “really interesting blend.”

The shows themselves will feature both musicians coming on and off the stage throughout the evening, performing solo and joint sets. The shows will also feature the two performing a duet of each others’ songs with Simon hoping to play “Fragile,” and Sting wanting to sing on Simon’s “Boy In The Bubble.”

Paul Simon & Sting: On Stage Together kicks off Feb. 8th in Texas and runs until March 16. Tickets are available on
