‘That’s Amazing!’: Huell Howser Exhibit Opening This Saturday At Chapman University

Now a little over a year since we lost ‘California’s Gold’ star Huell Howser in January 2013, Chapman University is showcasing 30 years of the beloved TV personality’s legacy in a new permanent exhibit opening this Saturday!

The event fittingly titled, “That’s Amazing! Thirty Years of Huell Howser and California’s Gold,” holds its grand opening ceremony on March 29th and invites the public to take part in celebrating the TV host’s favorite things found right here in California.

The (nine-hour!) open house will take a mini-tour of Cali by featuring guest appearances of people highlighted on the show, food tastings from vendors featured on memorable episodes and free tours of the new exhibit that features a “replica of Huell’s office, a quote wall, career artifacts, pieces from his eclectic personal art collection, and fan gifts from his travels throughout California,” according to the University’s website.

The event will also world premiere the new film A Golden State of Mind: The Storytelling Genius of Huell Howser that goes behind the scenes of the California’s Gold series, plus the release of AAA’s new California’s Gold tour map that marks the locations where some of Huell’s favorite episodes took place.

The exhibit and guest appearances are free to the public. Tickets for the film screenings $12 online in advance and $15 at the door. AAA members will receive a discounted movie price of $10. Screening times are 10 a.m., noon, 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.
