It was “A Day in my Life, I will never forget.” Today, Wednesday April 30th marks the one year anniversary of when I received a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The ceremony was attended by family, friends, colleagues, and by hundreds of K-EARTH listeners.

As we were driving up in the Limo my daughter Melanie said “look, daddy, the Hollywood High Band is here.” CBS 2 News covered the event all morning starting at 6am, and Josh Rubinstein did his weather report from Hollywood Blvd. just prior to the ceremony. You can look at the LA TV News coverage in the video below.

K-EARTH 101 and CBS Radio did a great job promoting the event. President of CBS Radio, Dan Mason had a great idea of giving out Shotgun Tom Ranger Hats to listeners on the air. Patty Paster the promotion director said “Let’s put the official Shotgun Tom Hollywood Walk of Fame lapel pin on the hats we give away.” The hats were a BIG hit with the K-EARTH 101 listeners, they wore the hats at the ceremony and it looked so cool. Josh Rubinstein even put his hat on when he was doing the weather. And ABC 7’s George Pennacchio put his Shotgun Tom ranger hat on at the end of his report. CBS 8 TV from San Diego was there to cover the event. Watch footage of their report below:

The ceremony was covered by radio too, Diane Thompson was there from KNX 1070 and John Rabe from KPCC 89.3 reported the event on OFF-RAMP.

My guest speakers were K-EARTH Program Director Jhani Kaye and Stevie Wonder. Stevie sang “Shotgun Tom Kelly we listen to you on the radio….” to the tune of “My Cherie Amour” and the crowd dug it!

After the Star ceremony invited guests attended the after party at Madame Tussauds Hollywood and enjoyed Pinks Hot Dogs.

Leron Gubler, President of the Hollywood Chamber Of Commerce recognized other Hollywood Star Walk of Famers who were in attendance; Johnny Mathis, Charlie Tuna, Harold Green, and Art Laboe.
