The world has not heard much from Monica Lewinsky in the years after her infamous affair with President Clinton rocked the White House, but she is now speaking out after a decade of silence.

Then just an intern, now Lewinsky, 40, is looking back on the scandal that took a President down and shook up her life. Lewinsky details her affair with Clinton in a new Vanity Fair piece saying that “it’s time to burn the beret and bury the blue dress.”

In a teaser released by Vanity Fair, Lewinsky says of the affair: “Sure, my boss took advantage of me, but I will always remain firm on this point: it was a consensual relationship. Any ‘abuse’ came in the aftermath, when I was made a scapegoat in order to protect his powerful position.”

She also said that she was inspired to break her silence on the matter by the 2010 suicide of a Rutgers freshman who had been secretly caught on video kissing another man. Lewinsky said that by sharing her story, she might be able to help others deal with their moments of humiliation.
