Cyndi Lauper On Touring With Cher: ‘She’s Singing Her Butt Off’

Coming to Southern California for three shows this summer including STAPLES Center, Honda Center in Anaheim and Citizens Bank Arena in Ontario is the ultimate girl-power duo featuring Cher and Cyndi Lauper!

Proving that all girls still just wanna have fun, Cyndi Lauper called in this morning to talk more about the tour, plus her acclaimed Broadway musical Kinky Boots debuting in Los Angeles this fall.

As two of the biggest pop superstars in music, Cher’s D2K Tour with Cyndi is definitely not one to miss, and even she says her tourmate sounds better than ever.

“I haven’t been with her in twelve years, I got to tell you, she’s singing her butt off. I’ve never heard her voice like this before and she looks great,” Cyndi gushed. “I just felt like…I’m gonna hang out with someone I like and she’s very sweet to me.”

You can catch Cher and Cyndi July 5th at Citizens Bank Arena in Ontario, July 7th at STAPLES Center and July 9th at Honda Center in Anaheim. You better get to one of these shows, because it could be the last time to catch these two superstars on stage together.

“She keeps saying this [tour] is her last one,” chuckled Cyndi. “This is it, this is the last time we’ll be together like this. Everyday I try to tell myself ‘okay, find things today that are really special that you’ll remember.’ You don’t always get to work with people like her.”

After the tour, Cyndi will be premiering her Tony Award-winning Broadway hit Kinky Boots in Los Angeles at the Pantages Theatre from November 11-30. Visit for more details on the show.

Cyndi also celebrated the 30th anniversary of her acclaimed 1983 release She’s So Unusual, which features hit after hit like “Girls Just Want To Have Fun,” “Time After Time,” “She Bop” and “All Through The Night.” The album was re-released this year to celebrate the milestone and featured demos and remixes of previously released material, plus new artwork.

“I just thought for the people who really loved it, they should have more than just the repackaging. So this was kind of really a work of love,” she said.
