Mike Vogel Teases ‘Under The Dome’ Season 2 Twists & Surprises

After thrilling audiences in its debut season, the hit CBS drama Under The Dome returns for a second season tonight at 10pm with even more twists and suspense than the first. Joining us on the phone to talk about the new season is actor Mike Vogel, who plays Dale “Barbie” Barbara on the show.

“Tonight’s the big night. We’re hoping we can hold everyone’s attention again and we get into some really cool stuff here,” Mike teased. “Taking off in the first episode, Stephen King wrote it, and has a little cameo in it himself. This season, stuff just keeps getting bigger and more chaotic for everyone in the town.”

What kind of twists can we expect on the show? Well, right off the bat, Under The Dome says goodbye to two of its recurring characters.

“We kill off two very beloved characters. We gain two more and then a lot of other fun people join us throughout the year,” Mike said.

On tonight’s season premiere, “Heads Will Roll,” Barbie’s fate lies in Big Jim’s hands, and the Dome presents a new threat when it becomes magnetized. Meanwhile, Julia seeks out the help of a stranger to save the life of a mysterious girl who may hold clues to origin of the Dome.

For those just getting into the show this season, Mike gave a quick run down of what happen in the first season to get you up to speed.

“A town in Chester’s Mill, a dome comes down over top the town unexpectedly and the whole town is kinda of thrown into this chaos and panic on ‘why is it here, how do we get out,'” he explained. “I like to say, the dome is just a device to see how people are going to react to a situation like that.”

With so many people both inside and outside of the dome trying to figure out why it’s there, Mike tells us that this season answers “a lot of those questions” that have left us wondering and hanging in suspense.

Plus, viewers will get to see a cameo from the creator of the Dome itself, Mr. Stephen King. Mike told us what it was like meeting the iconic horror novelist in person.

“He’s as normal of a guy you’ll ever meet, which is what scares me even more because a guy that is that normal and yet we see the stuff that comes out in his writing – I don’t even want to know what’s going on upstairs in his head, it’s gotta be pretty dark,” he joked.
