It’s (almost) official – Rosie O’Donnell is returning as a co-host of The View.
The 52-year-old television personality is in “active negotiations” to rejoin the program, according to TMZ. The news comes in the wake of creator and co-host Barbara Walters’ retirement in May and the June departure of co-hosts Sherri Shepherd and Jenny McCarthy.
According to Page Six, Rosie has reportedly been offered a seven-figure deal to return to the show, but this time she has a list of demands and a say on her co-hosts, and says no reality stars can co-host.
O’Donnell joined the daytime talk show as a panelist in 2006, but left after one season when her contract expired. She is said to be discussing salary and other terms with execs, and is “definitely interested” in coming back if the right compensation is offered.
The show is expected to make an official announcement sometime soon, but reps have dismissed the rumors of her return and said the show will be moving in an exciting new direction.
