Gabriel Iglesias Talks Upcoming Comedy Tour, Classic Car Collection & Giving Back To Fans

We always love having the hilarious actor/comedian Gabriel Iglesias join us on The K-EARTH 101 Morning Show, and today Fluffy himself stopped in studio for some laughs and to take listener calls.

After seeing huge box office success with The Fluffy Movie last year, Gabriel has officially made the jump to TV star with a recurring role on the ABC comedy Cristela as Alberto.

“I’m having a great time with the show. They’re been very accommodating with my schedule – I can’t always be there, but they’re very flexible,” he said. “It’s a good time whenever I get to be part of the show.”

He’s keeping the momentum going this year by announcing his Unity Through Laughter World Tour, which includes his first headlining show at Madison Square Garden on April 17.

“I’m really, really excited. That is the venue,” he said.

And to celebrate his MSG gig, Gabriel is hooking one K-EARTH 101 listener up with a trip for two to see him live in New York for the show! For your chance to win, tune in to The K-EARTH 101 Morning Show Friday (March 13) from 6-10a to ‘Beg and Plead’ for tickets!

Not only is he a comedian/actor, Gabriel is also a major car enthusiast, a passion he shares with another well-known comedian, Jay Leno. His growing collection includes vintage models like VWs and Trans Am, as well as newer models like an Audi A8 and a Tesla. He even told us a story on surprising his girlfriend with a very special car purchase.

“My girlfriend’s first car was a 1979 Trans Am and I wanted to surprise her. So for Christmas I got her a 1979 Trans Am, and the guys who got it for me know Burt Reynolds and they’re like ‘hey do you want Burt to sign it?'” he said. “The part was that I had bought it a month early and Jay Leno actually baby sat the car for me…and Jay Leno actually gave her the car.”

The great thing about Gabriel is that he truly loves and appreciates all his fans who’ve supported him through his entire comedy journey. To say thanks, Gabriel is known to host ‘Fan Appreciation Days’ where he invites people out and buys them a meal at a restaurant.

However, one of these recent ‘Fan Appreciation’ meals didn’t go over so well with the police in Long Beach and it almost landed him in jail.

“This one in particular, I took the first 300 people that showed up at this restaurant in Long Beach to breakfast. I bought them a pancake breakfast and did a meet and greet,” he said. “The police department got so upset because, you know, the streets got all messed up right there in that area…and they’re threatening to arrest me. It was mayhem.”

Thanks again to Gabriel Iglesias for keeping us laughing this morning! There’s plenty more comedy from Fluffy to come – catch him in SoCal at his upcoming show at Pacific Amphitheater at the OC Fair on July 17th! Click here to enter to win a pair of tickets from K-EARTH 101.
