This morning, legendary music producer Lou Adler called in to The K-EARTH 101 Morning Show to talk about an exciting charity event in celebration of Paul Newman.
The event, An Evening of SeriousFun Celebrating the Legacy of Paul Newman, will be held on May 14th at 7:30pm at the Dolby Theatre and benefits the late actor’s foundation, The Painted Turtle.
This one-night event is jam-packed with performances including Jamie Foxx, Carole King and Jay Leno and appearances from big name celebrities like Danny DeVito, Annette Bening, Renee Zellweger and more.
“We’re benefiting with this event sixteen camps throughout the world…for children with chronic and life-threatening illnesses,” explained Lou. “When you just mention it to celebrities, they just can’t wait to join it…it turns out to be such a fabulous show.”
Tickets start at $40 with an addition $1,000 VIP package that includes entry in the VIP after party so you can mingle with all the celebrity guests. For tickets and event information, visit www.thepaintedturtle.org.
While we had him on the phone, we asked Lou about another exciting project he has in the works – the TV reboot of Rocky Horror Picture Show.
As the original producer of the 1981 movie musical, Lou is currently in talks to bring the cult classic to the small screen.
“Rocky Horror Picture Show is what we’re contemplating and in development at Fox Broadcasting,” he said. “Rocky Horror always sort of had a mind of its own over the last 40 years. It’s the 40th anniversary this coming year.”
However, Lou said the reboot “depends a lot on casting” to make it work.
“If we get the right cast, we’ll go forward. If not, we’ll wait another 40 years. Not you and I, but somebody,” he laughed.
