The final farewells from some of David Letterman’s most memorable guests continue on as the late night host winds down his tenure on The Late Show.
Making her 26th and final appearance Wednesday night, actress Julia Roberts reflected on her many times as a guest and sealed their flirty friendship with one final kiss.
The two friends have long showed their affection for each other with Roberts, 47, asking Letterman, 68, for a kiss. After playing a sweet montage of their past lip-locks over the years, Letterman escorted Roberts to the stage for one final kiss.
Roberts later looked back on her very first appearance on the show while promoting her movie Mystic Pizza, saying she was nervous to be in the hot seat with Letterman.
“As a fan of the show, I did not want to come on because I had seen you absolutely dismember young actresses of my kind of peer group,” she joked. “I thought, ‘I’m going to go on and he’s going to know within ten seconds what my IQ is, and you are going to – like a samurai – just sort of like Benihana me into pieces and I’ll be left for dead and forgotten.”
But that never happened with Roberts, thus marking her 26th appearance on the show. Letterman asked what prompted her fear to come on the show, to which she replied, “I think stupid people annoy you.”
