Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You” No Longer Number One

For almost two months of the year, whether you’re at home, in the car, out to dinner or shopping, Christmas music is everywhere.

There’s a company called PlayNetwork which works with retail stores across the country to put together their seasonal list of holiday music for shoppers to listen to while spending their hard earned dollars.

According to Paste Magazine, the number one Christmas song played in retail since 1994, yes over 20 years, has been Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You.”

But now the tables have turned and Carey has been bumped to the number two spot.

Who’s number one?  Well now that would be The Shins “Wonderful Christmastime,” which is their version of the original by Paul McCartney, recorded in 1979.
