SOUTH LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Christmas came early to South Los Angeles on Monday.
Hundreds of kids from disadvantaged backgrounds got presents and sang carols as part of Ruth Moore’s 50th Annual Christmas Party For Underprivileged Children at Fremont High School.
In addition to stocking stuffers, kids were treated to performances by singers, musicians, dancers and magicians. Of course, Santa was on hand, too.
The event was started by Moore in 1965 as part of an effort to give children something positive in the wake of the Watts Riots.
