Foothill Communities Face 2-Week Outdoor Watering Ban

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — In less than a week, several foothill community will be banned from outdoor watering for about two weeks.

“I think it’s ridiculous, but knowing me, I’m going to water anyway,” Altadena resident Walter Butler said.

However, if too many people are defiant, we’re told this area may not have enough of the overall water supply it needs.

Flyers reading “No outdoor watering allowed … starting next Thursday the 25th until March 10th” have surfaced all across the Pasadena, Altadena, La Canada and La Crescenta communities.

The reason for the restrictions has to do with the Weymouth Water Treatment plant in La Verne that sends water to 14 cities all over Southern California.

The treatment plant is being shutdown in order to install some upgrades, meaning there will be a temporary switchover to limited water from wells and reservoirs.
