Finally celebrating her 74th birthday in New York City last Thursday (April 14), Aretha Franklin announced her biopic is moving forward full steam ahead.

“I’m in the last of the negotiations, because we have agreed on key things and the most important things,” Queen of Soul told The Huffington Post.  “So it’s just something minimal to finish, and then we can move forward from there.  It’s some of the people that were involved in ‘Straight Outta Compton,’ and this is gonna be ‘Straight Outta Detroit.'”

Now the question is, who will play Franklin in the film?

At first, it was reported that actress Hally Berry would be awarded the role.  But then later Franklin mentioned Audra McDonald and Jennifer Hudson were being considered.

Well it appears Franklin has found her leading lady, but isn’t saying who.

“I spoke to the young lady about a week ago – I won’t say which one of the two it was, but I spoke to her, and she’s ready.  We’re gonna go forward with it.”

We can’t wait to hear who it will be!
