LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Los Angeles police will crack down on traffic violators Friday as part of an effort to make some intersections safer.

Officers will conduct a Directed Enforcement Task Force (DETF) operation at various intersections in the city’s South Bureau.

“The goal of the DETF is to reduce the number of traffic collisions at specific intersections that have the highest incident of fatalities, severe or visible injuries through education and enforcement,”LAPD Lt. Dave Ferry said in a statement.

The following intersections will be the main focus for the operation:

— Vermont Avenue at Martin Luther King Boulevard

— Hoover Street at 43rd Street

— La Cienega Boulevard at Rodeo Road

— Broadway at Manchester Avenue

— Adams Boulevard at La Brea Avenue

The DETF is funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
