Most trick-or-treaters stick close to home when going door-to-door for candy, but one of the best parts about L.A. is that there are so many incredible neighborhoods to explore if you’re willing to take a quick detour from your usual routine.

TimeOut Los Angeles came up with list of the best neighborhoods to hit up on Halloween and here are a few of our favorites…

Angelino Heights

The historic Victorian homes provide the perfect setting for those who want the haunted house experience.

Hit up this neighborhood if you’re looking for the best candy and expert-level Pinterest decor.

Downtown L.A.

Check out the Annual Halloween Party at Grand Hope Park and celebrate with bounce houses, caramel apples, and more.

Sierra Madre

Craving a small town vibe? The foothill community east of Pasadena has charm up the wazoo. Plus, they’re known for hooking it up with some good candy and professionally-carved pumpkins.

Santa Monica

The Annual Halloween Hop shuts down 10-blocks on Montana from 3pm-6pm for families looking for a safe way to celebrate. Afterwards, you can head on over to the nearby neighborhoods for a traditional trick-or-treating experience.
