If you’re looking for something to do on Black Friday other than tackling people for TVs then a hike might just be perfect!

Over 116 California state parks are offering 13,000 free vehicle day passes to anyone that wants to be one with nature on the Friday after Thanksgiving!

The California state parks department and 2 San Francisco environmental groups, Save the Redwoods League and the California State Parks Foundation are trying to get “Green Friday” to start trending over “Black Friday.”

Last year 6 states other than California had free Black Green Friday programs for their parks, including Arizona, Colorado, Oregon, Minnesota, Missouri and Delaware.

If you do plan on attending one of the parks on November 25th, the people backing the California Program want you to post pictures on social media using #GreenFriday or #CAStateParks.
