Last night kicked off Part 1 of the two-night finale on Dancing With The Stars. Each couple danced two dances, a ‘redemption dance’ chosen by the judges and their Freestyle.

Up first was Calvin Johnson with his redemption dance. A Viennese Waltz which was classic and beautiful. Later on was his Freestyle, that was just as great, and charming enough to take him into tonight’s finale.

Country girl Jana Kramer didn’t quite land either of her routines, both had issues.

No issues for Laurie Hernandez. Her redemption dance, Paso Doble, showed off her pure athletic talents. Her Freestyle was also off the charts, a playground of fun.

Indy car driver, James Hinchecliff, nailed his redemption dance, the Fox Trot. Bruno called it “Visual Poetry.”

Sadly, one had to go last night, and that was Jana Kramer. Tonight the final three compete for the mirrored trophy ball.
