We lost yet another good one last night.
Alan Thicke, one of America’s famous dads, died suddenly from a heart attack while playing hockey with his 19 year old son, Carter.
The tributes are pouring in this morning, and the cast of Fuller House paid their own respects.
Thicke had just done an episode on the sitcom and Candice Cameron-Bure tweeted out a photo of them on set saying,
“I’ve known you since I was 8 so glad I had the pleasure of working with you again on Fuller House. You were part of my family and hockey family, you will be greatly missed.”
Thicke also played himself on an episode of This is Us. The Growing Pains star is also well known as the father of pop star Robin Thicke, who shared this message calling his dad “The best friend I ever had” and saying,
“Let’s all rejoice and celebrate the joy he brought to every room he was in.“
Thicke was not just an actor, he was also behind some of the biggest TV theme songs in history including Facts of Life and Different Strokes (not to mention, the 11 games show themes he wrote including Wheel of Fortune).
There is a whole new generation that knows Alan Thicke not from his work, but as Robin Thicke (the Blurred Lines singer’s) dad.
But it would be his role on Growing Pains that would remain foremost in the minds of his devoted fans.
One of Alan’s last tweets featured advice for new dads –
“love, then love some more”
