It’s election week, which means Tuesday is the big day to finally get out and cast your vote. Whether you plan to spend the rest of the week celebrating a victory or mourning a loss, we’ve got you covered with plenty to keep you busy. A new ice cream shop opening, a wine dinner, and a studio food event are here to help you eat your feelings. If you want to laugh, a variety show with two comedy giants will have you rolling, or for a more introspective performance, a special Veteran’s Day reading of Sophocles’ Ajax will take place. For a little bit of everything, including stunning visuals and acrobatics, don’t miss Cirque du Soleil’s new show about the famous and fantastic world of Avatar’s Pandora.

A new ice cream shop just opened its uber trendy doors on West Hollywood’s iconic Santa Monica Blvd. Rori’s Artisanal Creamery scoops organic ice cream in a bevy of fun and different flavors. Cup O’ Joe Spinelli, Wild Berry Chocolate Crisp, Maple Pecan, and Honey Almond Crunch are sure to be shop favorites this season, along with standard Vanilla Bean and Milk Chocolate Chunk. Whoever you support in this election, today is the day to get out and vote! Once your ballot has been cast, take that fancy little “I VOTED” sticker to Messhall Kitchen, and receive the Ration of your choice with any entrée, or get a free order of Mick’s Triple Cooked Fries at Hache LA. In honor of tomorrow’s Veterans Day, a special reading of Sophocles’ Ajax will be performed at the Hammer Museum. The ancient Greek play tells the story of a great warrior’s suicide, and will act as a springboard for a powerful public discussion about the stresses of combat, alcohol and substance abuse in the military community, and suicide. Acclaimed actor, writer, and producer Michael Imperioli will perform readings, along with actress Heather Goldenhersh, and founder of the innovative Theater of War, Bryan Doerries. A community panel and facilitated town hall discussion with audience members follows the performance.

John Cleese + Eric Idle: Together Again At Last…For The Very First Time

Monty Python’s John Cleese and Eric Idle are teaming up once again to tour the country with a new, live comedy show. The duo will blend scripted and improvised bits with musical numbers, storytelling, exclusive footage, and “aquatic juggling,” to create an experience unique to every show. The world of James Cameron’s blockbuster film Avatar is coming to life at the STAPLES Center this weekend, as Cirque du Soleil’s “Toruk – The First Flight” makes its Los Angeles debut. Set in the fantastical, jungle-like world of Pandora, Toruk takes place thousands of years before the events of the film. Through high flying acrobatics, incredible costuming, and stunning visuals, the show tells the story of two Na’vi boys as they attempt to save the sacred Tree of Souls from a natural catastrophe. The show runs at STAPLES November 11-13.
