Billy Joel Invites Blind Piano Prodigy to Perform at Madison Square Garden

NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — A 14-year-old piano virtuoso got to live out one of his dreams recently when he played a duet with Billy Joel at Madison Square Garden.

Logan Riman was born blind, but doesn’t let that hold him back from his love of music. In April, he performed at Radio City Music Hall for the Garden of Dreams Foundation talent show as “Logan Piano Man.” Those who saw him were so impressed, they worked to make sure Riman could meet the “Piano Man” himself.

On July 18, their effort paid off when Joel brought Riman into Madison Square Garden during one of his sound checks.

Riman played Joel a rendition of his 1973 hit “Piano Man” while friends and family watched in the arena.

In an interview with CBS2, Riman says the performance was incredible. “At Madison Square Garden… it was so cool,” he said. “That was amazing.”

He notes he’s currently learning how to play Joel’s “Scenes From an Italian Restaurant.”
